As I sheepishly return to the blogosphere I can’t help wonder if I have any readers left. I’d love to say that I’ve been off doing something exciting but alas I’ve just been a little uninspired lately due to nasty factors beyond my control. Anywho, I’m tired of complaining (aren’t you lucky I haven’t been complaining here) about the cards I’ve been dealt and I’d better just get back playing the game, if ya know what I mean. Last thing I wrote here was that I’d be back with some crafting so true to my word, here is an update of what I’ve been up to.
I made these very pink brooches.

And inspired by Ruth at Nice Day Designs I decided to revamp some bargain bin tops.
This one had plain white buttons when I picked it up for €3, I changed the buttons and then did some plain backstitch embroidery to add some colour.

To this one I just added some crochet flowers.

What do you think? If there’s anyone out there that is
Well, I’m off home to visit my folks tomorrow and then we’re heading down to Ballyferriter outside Dingle for the rest of the May Bank Holiday weekend. Hope everyone has a good one ![]()

I am still here too, and always very happy to see you have a new post. Your brooches are so cute, and I think what you did to your top was sweet and inspired.
I am also very interested to read about your up-coming wedding (many congratulations to you both), and I have a question. Does the Register have to be in attendance at your nuptials and witness everything, or does the Register actually perform the ceremony?
Hope you’ll blog again soon.

Grannymar and Cathy, Thanks
Nice to know you ladies are loitering around here!
Coastal Aussie, the registrar performs the ceremony in the local registry office and in some cases he/she can perform the ceremony at your choice of venue, in our case it wasn’t possible as the only day they leave the registry office is Wednesday.
Lu, those variegated pinks are the most useful balls of yarn in my stash, I love them.

I love those button brooches - really enjoy your blog and it’s inspiring me to start doing some crochet/ crafts/ knitting again come the Autumn.

Thanks for answering my question, but it sounds so silly. They only leave the office on Wednesday? I never knew anyone who got married on a Wednesday. Perhaps it is such a quiet day, that they chose it to be the one day they will go to you… but, goodness, that just doesn’t make sense to me. How frustrating.
Have you decided what to do instead? Or am I rushing your next wedding themed blog post.
Thanks again though, eagerly looking forward to your next posts, on craft and your wedding. Loving following along with both. Please keep ‘em coming.

HI Lorna, that’s fantastic, please let me know how you get on with your crafting!
coastal aussie, to be honest the law was only changed a few years ago, before that if you didn’t get married in a church your only option was the registry office itself. It’s all red-tape over here so I’m sure the registrars themselves were none too impressed with having to leave the office to perform ceremony’s and as far as I know there’s only one or two per area so they just allocated wednesday as the “going out” day. I agree it’s frustrating but it’s better than a church wedding as far as we’re concerned
Glad to here you like the crafting and the wedding stuff, I’m trying to blog more often on both
